Job Description

Our Public Relations Intern will be a vital member of our small staff, working as a fully-functional member of the team with real responsibilities, doing real work for real clients. We need an individual who is organized, results-driven and ready to develop an extremely diverse communication skill set. You’ll write content for an E-newsletter, pitch media and work on several accounts. Areas of Focus: 50% Media outreach/pitching 30% Research/Write/Edit content for print, website, social media, ‘award competitions’ and radio efforts 10% Media list development and maintenance 5% Analysis 5% Basic photography *Other responsibilities as required, based on intern’s interest and organization’s needs

Qualifications The ideal candidate: • Will be pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Journalism or related communication program; • Have demonstrated strong writing skills (please provide writing samples/clips); • Will have successfully completed a previous PR/communication internship (recommended but not required); • Possess the ability to work independently and on deadline; • Have experience with one or more of the following programs preferred: Adobe Creative Suite CS5 – InD, Ai, Ps; WordPress; Constant Contact; SurveyMonkey; Dooster or Basecamp; Hootsuite Desired Commitment: Nov. 5 – March 29; 20 hours a week minimum at our Stonybrook office Compensation: • We prefer Our Public Relations Intern to receive college credit; additionally, we’ll provide a $1,000 stipend To Apply: • Send your resume, ‘pitch’ letter and writing sample to internships@jd-pr.com or John Darr Public Relations, 8912 Stone Green Way, Louisville, KY 40220 • Deadline to apply: Oct. 12
